Thumper’s Guide to Living a Good Life

Today I am thinking about the wisdom a marvellous boy, who has lived among us just a scant two years, brings to the world. His bloggy name is Thumper, and he is the youngest member of the family (so far). He is the smartest, cutest, sweetest—and I am allowed to say so because I have grandma bragging rights. A day in his company is purely a day of love and laughter.

I want to share with you, below, what I have learned from Thumper (so far). Please feel free to adopt his philosophy as your own. Enjoy!

Appreciate the joy of simple pleasures.

Embrace new experiences, but take reasonable safety precautions.

If you crash, choose to crash in the grass.

Allow yourself plenty of dessert.

So just think about that!

(I must give credit for the pictures to Thumper’s daddy, Irodius, who posted them first on his own blog. His link appears on the blog roll. I asked his permission before I stole them, honestly I did.)

Making the decision to have a child—it’s momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body.

He also believes strongly in enjoying the company of family and friends as often as possible. We went to another family member’s birthday party yesterday, and on the way, as we listed off who was going to be there, he asked, “Where’s Grandma?”
